Here is my own Publishers Weekly announcement I made! I wanted to announce my new novel “Christmas with the Elf King”! Here is the synopsis:

A “Hallmark Christmas Movie” meets “A Deal With The Elf King” in this sweet Christmas romance perfect for cozy fantasy fans of “Legends and Lattes” with a whimsical magic system similar to “Howl’s Moving Castle”.

They said the Elf King had lived a thousand years. They said he was the most beautiful creature anyone had ever beheld. They said he took whatever he wanted. And Noelle was no exception.

For six hundred years, the elves have taken human masters of craft and maidens back to the Undying Lands of Ravensong as part of an uneasy treaty between human and elf. To be chosen is seen as a gift, as the families are richly rewarded. But to Noelle Baker, it is a curse. She wants only to bake all of her Christmas favorites with her family, until the Elf King comes for her.

Forced to leave her family behind and bake for the cold yet frustratingly handsome king, Noelle is thrust into a world of strange elven magic where she learns of a curse on the land. Hello friends!

I have been so busy these last few months working and being a mom, etc, that my writing has been pushed to the side. I’ve been working full time as an Elementary Art Teacher and it has been eye-opening, extremely difficult, and so rewarding! But as I’ve been working, the writing part of me just didn’t have a place at the table. I have spent the better part of a year not writing, but feeding the artist side of me as an art teacher. I have reconnected to my artistic roots and it has fueled me in every way through writer’s burnout.

I will be finishing my job at the end of May and am so excited to announce–I am putting my writing and art first going forward!

After querying and working with a small publisher for a few years, I’ve finally decided to do what I want: to take complete creative control of my books–and that means–yes, I’ll be self-publishing! I am so, so excited to do things my way! I have so many ideas!

I am also very pleased to announce that my first self-published book will be released Oct 28, 2025–and it’ll be a cozy Christmas book! I can’t wait for you all to see the cover (that I spent 20 hours drawing/creating!). I have so many goodies in store for this book, including exclusive art, recipe pages, a beautiful map, and so much more!

So where am I on my self-publishing journey? I just got the first passes from my editor, so I am going through those changes now. It is looking so good! I am kinda obsessed with this one! I have to keep a lot about my Christmas book secret, but suffice it to say, you won’t have seen a Christmas book quite like this one before!

I seriously can’t wait for you to meet my little human baker, Noelle, and the frustratingly handsome Elf King. This is NOT a Santa Claus retelling–it is its own kind of magic. I can’t say more, so for now–stay tuned!

It was a bit of a tough day because the *zon is having trouble filling orders. There are no books available, which doesn’t make sense since it is print on demand. I was so disheartened yesterday, but had to take a step back and just shake my head. Indie authors have strange relationship with big companies like the *zon. We depend on them to get our books printed and in the hands of our readers, but we are also completely at their mercy. So when there is a problem, like yesterday, and my book is not available… all I could do was just be sad. I haven’t held my book in my hand yet. Maybe then it will feel more real.

I am forever grateful to you, dear readers and friends, who came out and supported me!! I hope my book will be available in paperback soon, but it’s still there on kindle and KU!!!

So… you may have noticed that I’ve been mostly MIA on social media lately and it’s because I had a major life change. After having the incredible privilege of being able to stay home and raise my kids these past many years (I will not say how many!!) I decided to go back to work. This was for many reasons—some of them had me kicking and screaming—but I am now an elementary school art teacher.

It is absolutely wild, exhausting, yet still very rewarding. It’s been wonderful to go back to my artistic roots and teach a subject I am so passionate about. I have learned a ton these past few whirlwinds of months, but one of them is—no matter how exhausted I am, I need to make time for my passions. And that is writing.

So, here’s a picture of me now, standing in my classroom preparing for the day. I am so grateful for my amazing husband and kids who have had my very tired back every step of the way.

The second picture is of me several months ago finishing the last draft of BLACK RUINS RISE. I will miss the hours I had to wile away in my own worlds, but I know I will find time for some of that again. I have to!

A little puppy love! I was rolling into the end of last year working hard and being SO productive! Then we brought a puppy into the mix and a lot has been put on hold as we train this sweetie! Her name is Pippin (from LOTR). We absolutely love her AND I am exhausted!

Instead of killing myself to work on edits, I am embracing the slower pace. She won’t be a puppy forever so I am going to enjoy the crazy and sweet while it lasts.

This is your reminder to slow down. Don’t expect so much of yourself. You don’t always have to be “creating a product” to be successful.

Lenore's Story

Lenore grew up running barefoot in the woods of Mechanicsville, Virginia with a dog at her side, five crazy siblings, and creative parents. She learned from a young age to hone her talents in art, trust in her voice, and compete for the most marshmallows in “Lucky Charms”. She graduated from Brigham Young University in Visual Art, married the love of her life, and lives in Northern California with her four spirited children, a golden retriever, two cats, and backyard chickens in a new kind of crazy paradise. Lenore loves all things fantastical. Supernatural and humor play equal parts in everything she writes.
